Sejarah Awal Hospital Melaka

Hospital Melaka dibina pada awal 1930an dengan kos binaan dari Straits Settlement  berjumlah $2.5 juta dan telah dirasmikan oleh Sir Cecil Clementi, Gabenor Negeri-negeri Selat pada 12 Februari 1934. Majlis Perasmian turut dihadiri oleh Andrew Caldecott (British Colonial Secretary), Major General Lewin (Commanding Officer), Dr R.D. Fitzgerald (Director of Medical Treatment and Health), M.W. Millington  (Resident Counselor) dan tetamu kehormat termasuk 700 rakyat Melaka.
